China to open world’s longest, highest glass-bottom bridge this summer in Zhangjiajie


In July, China will debut the world’s longest and highest glass-bottom bridge for thrill-seeking tourists to get one-of-a-kind views of the Wulingyuan area.

China needs more tourists in the region of Hunan Province and to accomplish that she has commissioned the architectural firm, Haim Dotan, to construct a glass bridge that spans 370 meters while being completely transparent across the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon (Zhangjiajie is a 56 square-kilometer designated tourist park inside the bigger Wulingyuan Scenic Area. It's been open to the public since 2009 and is said to have been the inspiration behind the beautiful planet of Pandora in James Cameron's 2009 "Avatar" film.). It shall have a height of 400 meters above the canyon floor and according to the claims so far, bridge will serve as a runway for fashion shows and be able to hold up to 800 people at once.
