Earth has entered sixth mass extinction, warn scientists




The Earth has reached a sixth mass extinction event, according to new research. 

The report, led by the universities of Stanford, Princeton and Berkeley, said vertebrates were disappearing at a rate 114 times faster than normal. The normal rate at which animals vanish is two mammal extinctions per 10,000 species per 100 years. But even by highly conservative estimates, species are disappearing 100 times faster than that, according to the study.

Samsung Announces Transparent & Mirrored OLED Displays




Samsung’s display division has introduced Industry’s first Mirror and Transparent OLED displays in Hong Kong today.

The idea is to make the "consumer purchasing experience more visually engaging," according to the press release. It mentions fitting rooms where customers can model clothing and jewelry before purchase, all with the help of Intel Real Sense, a technology that utilizes enhanced 3D cameras, voice and gesture control, and an automated library of stored "perceptions."

Rare Apple 1 computer worth $200K left at California recycling center




A rrecycling center is searching for a mystery woman who dumped a rare Apple 1 computer, which just sold to a private collector for $200,000.

The recycling firm sold the Apple I this month for $200,000 to a private collection, Vice President Victor Gichun said.

The machine was among other components and computers the woman wanted to dispose of after her husband died. 

Employees at the center later found that one of the boxes contained a first-generation Apple computer, known as an Apple 1, built by Apple co-founders Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ron Wayne in 1976.

This satellite was located in space in the 1960. In February 1960 US Navy had detected a dark, tumbling object in an orbit inclined at 79° from the equator with an orbital period of 104.5 minutes. Its orbit was also highly eccentric with an apogee of 1,728 km (1,074 mi) and a perigee of only 216 km (134 mi). At the time the Navy was tracking a fragment of casing from the Discoverer VIII satellite launch which had a very similar orbit.
