Peeple puts a Wi-Fi camera in your peephole: To upgrade your door with caller ID

With various smart doorbells and locks already on the market, There are numerous gadgets that help you monitor your door. There are CCTV cameras that stream live video and then there are other high-speed cameras that give you live feedback from around the house. Ok today we're going to talk about something new and this goes one step further in usefulness as it can stream the video from the peephole directly to your smartphone instead of a static display.


In short, What this can can do is, a connected peephole to screen who is knocking on your door. Whenever someone knocks on your door, Peeple snaps a picture and send it to your phone. A sensor in the device detects door vibrations, whenever someone knocks. It then accesses your home Wi-Fi network (You need to turn on your Wi-FI network before you leave the house), and notifies you via an app on your iOS or Android mobile device(s). That app shows you live video of who's at the door, whether you're at home or in another country. Additionally, it keeps a video record of who has been at your door, so you can see if anyone dropped by while your phone was off.

Peeple is also activated if the door opens. This not only means that it will alert you if an uninvited guest has come in, but it will tip you off if someone such as a small child has let themselves out. Power is provided by a rechargeable battery, and it lasts for a good long six months before it needs charging.

Early backers were able snag a Peeple for just $99, but that tier has since sold out. Now, you'll have to hand over at least $149 to get one.
